Geriatrics in Chinese Medicine

The world’s population is becoming older. Population ageing is an inevitable consequence of fertility decline, especially if it is combined with increase in life expectancy. The proportion of older persons is increasing at a faster rate than any other age segment. In developed countries, the proportion of older people already exceeds that of children.

This part of the lecture will discuss the Geriatrics in Chinese medicine:  Chest Bi  (coronary heart disease)   Hypertension and  benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The treatment of menopausal problems.

Giovanni has had an interest in the pathology of women´s menopausal problems for many years.  As a result of this research, he has developed four remedies to treat menopausal problems.  Before discussing the remedies, Giovanni will discuss the pathology of menopausal problems and the nature of Tian Gui.

As usual for his lectures on the Three Treasures, Giovanni does not limit himself to a discussion of the Three Treasures but the pathology and treatment principle of each disease is also discussed. The lecture is often enhanced by several tongue photos that clarify the pattern differentiation.  The treatment discussed includes also acupuncture.
